Paragliding Gear Sizing Guide

The right size depends on the complete flying system, not a single body measurement. Use this as a checklist before comparing wings, harnesses, reserves, or connection hardware.

Wing size: calculate all-up flying weight

Add pilot, clothing, shoes, harness, reserve, helmet, instruments, water, and anything carried in flight. Compare that total with the certified range for the exact wing size. If you are near an edge of the range, ask your instructor or dealer before buying.

Harness fit: check height, posture, and protection

Use the manufacturer height range as a starting point, then check leg support, seat depth, back angle, visibility, reserve access, and protection with your normal clothing and flying setup. Tandem pilot and passenger harnesses have different fit priorities.

Reserve and hardware: compatibility comes first

Confirm reserve volume and weight range against the harness container. For carabiners and maillons, match size, shape, gate geometry, rated use, and the connected webbing or riser system. Do not substitute critical hardware by appearance alone.
